Heading into Beijing, Scott Hogsett, a member of the 2004 U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby Team, knew that the 2008 version of Team USA was extremely talented. Hoping for nothing less than a gold medal, Hogsett and the U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby Team came away victorious, winning many of its matches in convincing fashion. Hogsett and Team USA also took home the gold medal at the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships. Scott was also team Captain of the 2012 Paralympic Rugby team that competed in the London Paralympic games. Hogsett and Team USA went on to win a Bronze medal.
Hogsett has been playing wheelchair rugby for 18 years. Currently, he plays for the Phoenix Heat and helped lead the team to the U.S. Quad Rugby Association Division I National Championship in 2006.
Hogsett's a full-time athlete, but also spends time as a motivational speaker. In the past, he filled the roles of both player and coach for the Phoenix Heat, who finished 36-1 in 2006 on their way to a national championship. Hogsett was featured in the Academy Award nominated documentary "Murderball."
